July 2026: More Events Scheduled, While Book Reaches Milestones

Perry Hibner, author of the book Centennial Revisited: An Oral History of the Epic TV Miniseries, has scheduled three more events in Wisconsin in the coming months.

Hibner will appear at the sixth annual Middleton Book Fair on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The book fair, which is organized by Middleton Review editor George Zens, typically includes more than a dozen local authors. This year’s event takes place on Hubbard Avenue and Aurora Street along the Stone Horse Green in downtown Middleton. The street will be closed to traffic for the event. The Middleton Book Fair is free for vendors and visitors.

Hibner is also scheduled to hold an author event at Rosmary Garfoot Public Library, 2107 Julius St. in Cross Plains, on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Hibner will share stories about his interviews with the cast and crew, answer questions, and sign copies of his book.

Hibner is also scheduled to hold an author event at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 7337 Hubbard Ave. in Middleton, on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. He will share stories about his interviews with the cast and crew, answer questions and sign copies of his book as part of a monthly senior program that is held at the church.

In May, Hibner held author events at Prairie Pages in Sun Prairie and at the Portage Public Library, which is where he grew up. He has also traveled to Colorado, Kentucky, Ohio and Missouri to hold events since mid-April.

Centennial Revisited also continues to consistently rank in the top 10 percent in three categories, according to Amazon, which has made the hardcover and ebook available since late March. The hardcover’s highest ranking overall was 128,419 out of approximately 7 million books available on the website on April 17. The book also ranked in the top 165,000 on June 8.

In TV-Media production, Centennial Revisited has ranked as high as 19th, according to Amazon and consistently is in the top 100 out of approximately 7,000 books in that category. In performing arts, Centennial Revisited has ranked as high as 1,900 and consistently ranks in the top 4,000 out of more than 30,000 books in the category.

Amazon calculates book rankings based mainly on recent sales and downloads compared to other books. Sales numbers are expected to be available later this summer.

Centennial Revisited was published by Dorrance Publishing and released on March 11. The hardcover and e-book are available on the Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites along with in bookstores. The hardcover, paperback and e-book are also available on the Dorrance Publishing website.

“I’m thrilled so many fans have already purchased the book,’’ Hibner said. “We’re still really in an awareness campaign. If there are 10 million living fans of the miniseries, until recently probably fewer than 100,000 were aware of my book. I’m hoping some of the advertising we have done, along with my appearance on Ed Robertson’s TV Confidential radio show and podcast, has significantly increased the book’s visibility.’’

Hibner’s book contains more than 75 interviews with cast, crew, extras, locals, experts, and fans. Among those interviewed were Gregory Harrison (Levi Zendt), Barbara Carrera (Clay Basket), Cristina Raines (Lucinda McKeag Zendt), Cliff DeYoung (John Skimmerhorn), William Atherton (Jim Lloyd), Stephen McHattie (Jake Pasquinel), Kario Salem (Mike Pasquinel), Mark Harmon (Captain John McIntosh), and John Wilder, who adapted the James A. Michener best-selling novel for television and was the main producer. The book also includes excerpts from more than 60 primary sources.
